With more than 23 years of experience spanning classroom teaching, instructional coaching, educational technology, and executive leadership, Ryan brings a unique perspective to helping K–20 institutions make strategic technology decisions that improve learning, collaboration, and safety.
We sat down with Ryan to learn more about his career, the future of education, and why thoughtful technology - not just new technology - will define the next generation of learning.
Long before leading education strategy at FORTÉ, Ryan was in the classroom. His career has included roles as a fifth-grade teacher, instructional technology collaborative teacher, online educator, and more than 14 years in EdTech leadership, where he helped schools implement technology that supports both educators and students. Those experiences continue to shape how he approaches every partnership today.

Today, Ryan leads FORTÉ's education strategy with a focus on enhancing teaching, learning, safety, and collaboration across K–20 organizations.

One of the biggest changes Ryan has witnessed over the past two decades is how schools think about technology. Initially, success was measured as more and more technology resources began to find their place in the classroom.
"Early on, it was about getting technology into classrooms. Today it's about how technology improves instruction, supports safety, and drives measurable results."
As pandemic-era funding has phased out, districts have become increasingly intentional with their investments. Schools now evaluate solutions based on scalability, interoperability, long-term sustainability, and total cost of ownership...not simply the initial purchase price.
"Ultimately, schools are seeking trusted partners who understand both the funding landscape and their long-term goals and can help them navigate uncertainty while delivering real impact."
Today's education leaders face an increasingly complex set of challenges.
All while maintaining high expectations for student outcomes. Ryan believes these challenges aren't isolated...they're deeply interconnected.

Rather than continually adding new technology, districts are now focused on maximizing the value of the tools they already have while ensuring those investments align with instructional goals.
Artificial intelligence has become one of the biggest conversations in education today. Ryan believes AI has enormous potential, but only when implemented thoughtfully.
"It's not about replacing teaching, but about streamlining tasks like planning, differentiation, and feedback so educators can focus more on student relationships and engagement."
He also sees AI improving operational efficiency by helping schools better manage technology, allocate resources, and support staff.
Looking ahead, Ryan expects intelligent classroom ecosystems, connected technologies, and data-informed instruction to become standard components of modern education. Still, he emphasizes that successful implementation requires more than simply adopting new tools.
"Ultimately, the biggest impact won't just come from the technology itself, but from how effectively it's implemented, supported, and aligned to outcomes."
When helping districts evaluate new solutions, Ryan always starts with one question: What problem are we trying to solve?
Rather than chasing the latest trends, he encourages schools to focus on meaningful outcomes.
"We focus on outcomes and define what success actually looks like for that district."
From there, every recommendation is evaluated through the lens of usability, sustainability, integration, and long-term support.
He also believes that technology adoption is just as important as technology implementation.
"We encourage schools and districts to be thoughtful about adoption. Make sure staff are supported and confident using the technology so it actually impacts instruction."
While Ryan enjoys exploring emerging technologies, he says the most rewarding part of his work has always been the relationships.
"The best partnerships go beyond technology and become collaborative efforts focused on achieving long-term goals." He continues to be inspired by educators every day. "Educators are some of the most innovative, resilient, and mission-driven people I've worked with, and I learn every time I connect with them."
As education continues to evolve, Ryan believes schools will increasingly seek partners who can help them make strategic decisions - not just technology purchases.

What motivates Ryan each day is knowing the work he does can make a meaningful difference for students, educators, and entire communities.
"Knowing that the work we do can have a lasting impact on students, teachers, and entire communities is what makes this role so rewarding."
Outside of work, you'll often find him watching historical documentaries or classic country westerns. And despite spending his career helping schools embrace new technology, he admits he still relies on three separate alarms every morning to make sure he's up on time.
